Princess has her wings

Heidi - "Liebenhund's Hydrangea"
3/21/00 - 5/21/10

It's been almost 3 weeks and I still can't talk about it much. It was time. She left us with dignity and grace, just as she lived her life. She will always have a special place in our hearts and memories.

Cate saying goodbye
This is Cate our neighbor and dog sitter. We got Heidi right after Cate and her family moved in next door. In middle school she started a pet sitting business. She just finished her junior year in high school and has been the greatest friend to all of our animals. When she heard that we were preparing for the inevitable she came over to say goodbye. You can tell by the looks on both of their faces how much they loved eachother.

Jayne and Heidi
This is my best friend Jayne with Heidi the day before we made our final journey. Jayne and I have taken our dogs to the local off leash forest preserve for years. She also dog sits for us when Cate isn't available. She came by to say goodbye and offer her love. Again, it is obvious how much Heidi touched lives.

  1. I am so sorry... Heidi was/is will always be a beautiful dog.
My beloved dog Cosmo nearly died a few weeks ago and I am now considering this my bonus time with her. She is 14 so I know she will go to heaven soon but I am not ready... I never will be.
    God Bless

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my dear kitty last month, but enjoyed the 17 years we had together.

  3. I'm sorry to read of your loss. I am a Hospital Administrator for a very large Emergency Animal Hospital in Plano, Texas and unfortunately I see too much sadness associated with owners losing their beloved pets. There are so many good stories to tell too, but I couldn't help but write to you and tell you it will become easier, but you'll never forget such a wonderful and sweet little creature in your life. I have 3 dogs (Border Collies) Maggie, Piper & Finnigan, and 1 little Tabby cat named Talle. I love them all dearly and they are such a huge part of my life. I could see and pick up on the same in your pictures you have posted of your friends and Heidi. What a pleasure she must have been!! You're lucky she spent 10 wonderful years with you!! Keep her in your heart always! My best, Kathy Beck

  4. I'm from Uruguay, South America, so, my English isn't pretty good. But I´m an animal lover too, and I want to tell you she looks as a beautiful and sweet dog, you and your friends have been so luckily for having shared her life... She was unique, but always will be a dog needing for you.
