Yes, I realize it is technically Saturday morning but I did finish it on Friday!
Yesterday was Knitting Circle with the Skein of Knitters* I'm starting to think of as friends at my LYS
With a plethora of suggestions and guidance from Carla and Jodee, I got my new hat finished. Well I didn't really finish it there, we all got hungry and packed our knitting in and went around the corner to the Swedish Pub for a healthy helping of fried food and diet sodas. But after 3+ plus hours of **fun and hilarity I had to leave and be home in time to pick the Little E up from school. While waiting for her I finished the last few decrease rounds and finished it up.
Notes:
*Jen at W&C and her bosses/co-workers have been trying to come up with a term to describe a group of knitters. "Herd" was immediately shot down by every self-respecting knitter there! My vote went to Skein of Knitters (because it was my suggestion of course, I'm nothing if not immodest!)
**The fun and hilarity included such topics as; mouth-breathers, mentally challenged labrador retrievers (and the women who love them.) and Men Who Knit Their Dogs Balls, the title of my upcoming knitting book.
So if you are a knitter (or crocheter, we're not yarnists), live in the western Chicago suburbs, are not easily offended or intimidated by a raucous bunch of women (we need some men, Cabana Boy is getting lonely and overworked), you should join us on Fridays in Geneva. You may even get your own nickname!
Oh Beth you are making me laugh all over again this morning! I believe my lab would be a little offended by being called "challenged", she's just "special"
ReplyDeleteIf any more knitters show up Cabana Boy will have to make more room for us! Does he know he's our cabana boy??
BYW your hat is fabulous!
The hat looks great! You need it this weekend! I miss the global warming!
ReplyDeleteI'm personally biased toward "gauge" of knitters...you know, sometimes you get what you expect, sometimes you're just...way off. You never know with a group like ours!
ReplyDeleteBring on the knitters! There's always more room at Wool&Co.
Beth, I LOVE the hat. Hope you have enough yarn left to make mine.
Looking forward to the release of your book...will Amazon take pre-orders??
[...] Imagine the conversations buzzing around this table… (Note: instead of just imagining, you can get a taste of it from Beth’s summary of the morning! and Beth, the hat looks fabulous) [...]
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I missed it...you ladies are a "stash" of fun, I just wish W&C was just a bit more local of a LYS for me.
ReplyDeleteBTW Lovely hat! Hopefully I'll see you Friday.
Jen, LOL at the Gauge comment! Yes some times we are WAY off!
ReplyDeletePersonally, sometimes my skein is wound a little too tight and other times it is a tangled mess. KWIM?
I really like Gaggle of Knitters. You forgot to mention your new knitting knickname. . . Bonzo Beth! I'll be there this friday unless the job fairy leaves a job under my pillow.
ReplyDelete[...] Now, stay tuned for the recipe for Bear Balls, the first recipe to be included in my new book. [...]
