Got something new on the needles.
Just trying to unofficially knit from my stash (because I'm not a joiner!) I'm also not a trend follower but lo and behold here I am thinking that trying out some fair isle colorwork knitting would be the cat's puss, so sue me.
Thing is I'm not following any pattern and my math skills seem to suck. Ironically I've been helping Little E all week do her math homework and she's doing a unit on long division and story problems. You'd think I'd at least have mastered a 4th grade level of math proficiency, what with testing out of the need to take any college math for that fancy bachelor's degree I hold so dearly...
The end result is that I have the beginnings of a really sweet hat that will be the right size to fit Andre the Giants head (if he were still alive that is, but again I digress). So in the name of good knitting I will commence the frogging shortly. But I had to take some pics because I love the knit in hem I did last night before realizing my mathematical FUBAR.
When I get to this point again with the correct number of stitches to my gauge (yes, I did a swatch, I just suck.) I'll try to either video a tutorial or just take step by step pics. It really is the shiz-knit.
Shadow has something for you to read with your morning coffee and blogs.
Nice hem.
ReplyDeleteIs that Eco Wool? I thought it might be your leftover Cascade, but it looks like 2-ply...
Nice charts, too. I need to be working on some of those for my Fair Isle class tomorrow. Huh.
Eco Wool? Could be, can't say for sure! Stash is stash, the green is quite most def quattro.
ReplyDeleteyou should see it now!
Doggie!
ReplyDeleteThe hat looked awesome this morning. Thanks for bringing that book of charts too... dammit, now I have ANOTHER book on my must-aquire list!
