In an effort to just do something nice for those I love today I started with doing Little E's hair before school. Last night she asked if I'd help her do something "extra pretty" for Valentine's Day. So we set the top section in soft curlers. This morning we took that section of hair and pulled it back and clipped it with a pretty barrette. I think we accomplished our goal.

If you are allergic to the common canine don't continue after the break!
The following pictures are guaranteed to set off your dog hair allergies if you are so cursed.
Yesterday I had to make a trip to PetSmart for animal food and picked up some new grooming aids for the fur beasts.
My Arsenal:

Heidi has been in dire need of a big time grooming session. I decided that today was the day. I now have enough dog hair to knit a new dog or stuff the world's smelliest, yet warmest, comforter.
Just past the halfway point.

Shadow asks, "Could you make me a doggy-weave so I can pretend to be a Newfoundland?"

This bag is available for any spinners who would like to try their hand at spinning this fine Swiss fiber into a very lovely heathered yarn.
1442 I've had the chance to knit with Berner fur yarn about 6 years ago. Unfortunately (for me!) it was for a charity project and I didn't win the raffle for the finished afghan, but I can attest that it is a wonderfully soft and luxurious yarn and it is incredibly warm. If anyone is seriously interested in taking me up on this offer of free fiber I can continue to save up future brush outs. Today I only scratched the surface before both she and I were spent. There is a lot more where this came from that's for sure.
In the spirit of Valentine's Day I leave you with this from Knit Mongrel,
"Nothing says I love you like an autopsy"
Well, the girlies hair turned out pretty darn pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs? *ACHOO* We'll talk about that later *SNIFF*
O. My. Dog.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of fur.
Even my collie (who drops shed like there's no tomorrow) is jealous. Wow.
That's a lot of fluff!! I never get enough off of my dog to do anything with :(
